When I was yet in my secondary, I was always the chaperon of my own cousin whom a music group member. Whenever they're going over to have a gig or recording, I was there. But in every gig and recording, I always observed that the microphones put to use are so different from the mics I've seen in our home and those displayed in some superstores. At those days I don't have any idea that those mics are the so-called ribbon microphone.
I didn't care to ask my cousin for I got afraid that he'd laugh at me. Considering the fact that I'm not such a singer and a band member, I didn't bother to investigate or ask other people. But when inquiring mind knocks, you'd really do anything just to get the question some responses.
The earliest ribbon microphone is the 77A exceptionally rare and was announced to the public at the year 1932. It is one colossal microphone that replicates a canon shell.
